TMJ (jaw) / TMJD Massage Therapy

The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) connect the jaw to the skull. TMJD / TMD is an acronym for when dysfunction occurs at these joints. TMJD can look like jaw pain/tension, difficulty opening/closing the mouth, clicking/popping, headaches stemming from the jaw muscles, difficulty or discomfort when chewing, neck/shoulder pain, and more.  Helping to release the muscles in this area can provide relief of these symptoms for the patient who has a tendency towards teeth clenching, grinding, forward head posture, periods of emotional stress, and dental issues which can all contribute to TMJD.  This treatment is suitable for both acute and chronic conditions. A combination of massage techniques* including but not limited to intra-oral massage may be used to achieve treatment goals.

General Therapeutic Massage Therapy

Tired of getting massage treatments where you leave feeling like you’ve not had your concerns addressed, or you’ve received the same generic treatment? This is an appointment focussed on thoroughly assessing and treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, tension and dysfunction. A health history intake and assessment will be conducted to help determine what might be contributing to your concerns, pain or dysfunction. A combination of General Swedish Massage (GSM) and advanced techniques* will be utilized to help you achieve your treatment goals. Choose this appointment if you’re experiencing muscle pain/tension, joint pain, postural strain, overuse injuries, sprains/strains, reduced mobility, or have a desire to maintain soft tissue health.
